👏 Our CEO Joanne Dewar was crowned the first-ever winner of the Technology Businesswoman of the Year award at The Great British Businesswoman Awards, plus she was also named in the 2021 Payments Power 10!

Growth 🚀 
🦄 Amazing news from Zilch the BNPL who've closed their Series C at a $2bn valuation, which makes them a double unicorn! They're the fastest European fintech ever to hit the $1bn mark, going from Series A to unicorn in 14 months. 🚀 It’s been fantastic travelling on a growth journey with them.  
 
👏 Congratulations to our customer, banking and crypto app Ziglu, who raised £7.19m on crowdfunding website Seedrs. This UK-based business has seen significant recent customer growth - quadrupling its customer base over the course of 2021.  
 
💻GPS customers Caxton are starting crowdfunding. Interested? Pre-register your interest on their website ahead of the launch.  

Environment 🌱 
🌿 Starling, the leading UK digital bank are going greener and have big plans for the future. They’ve committed to a one third reduction target in its carbon emissions by 2030 and to offset carbon emissions from its own operations and supply chain annually from 2021. 

🌳 Customers of Direct Debit travel card Currensea can contribute some of the money they save by using Currensea to automatically donate to Eden Reforestation Projects. For every 8p donated, a tree will be planted on their behalf, an increase of almost ten times from their current donation. 


Partnerships 🤝
📱 Our partners Currencycloud now have a strategic partnership with Plaid. This joining of forces means customers can fund their accounts in app, when previously they had to leave the platform, making it faster and easier for their users.  

Global expansion 🌎
🚀 We’ve officially launched our Middle East and North Africa (MENA) office headquartered in Dubai. Our regional hub will be building strategic partnerships across the whole ecosystem to power the next generation of payments It' a really exciting time to be expanding into one of the fastest-growing fintech markets globally, with the MENA fintech industry expected to be valued at an incredible $3.45 billion by 2026.  

🚀 Treezor has developed a banking-as-a-service API solution called ‘Treezor BankHub’ which it is launching in Germany. The French fintech, who recently celebrate its 5th anniversary, has issued than 2 million cards and its transaction volume is now 25 billion euros.   

🚀 Our Singaporean customer Nium launches in the US with Crypto-as-a-Service platform. They’ve increased their Banking-as-a-Service offering so it now includes crypto-currency buying.

🎉 We’re proud to say our clients Currensea, Curve, Revolut,Starling Bank, and Pockit all made it into BusinessCloud’s FinTech 50 ranking for 2021 - the inaugural annual ranking of the UK companies who are creating original technology for banking, finance and payments.


Innovation 💡
🎨 The Revolut app now has the in-app functionality for cardholders to create their own design. Images, texts, emojis and freehand drawings can be rendered on a Revolut card, to make a truly personalised design. The elements are laser engraved on metal cards for customers with a Revolut Metal plan and printed for all other plans. Now you can really make your card your own.  

💳 Mastercard has introduced a new accessible card standard for blind and partially sighted people called Touch Card. Unique notches on the Touch Card’s short side allow an individual to distinguish it between a credit, debit or prepaid card. 2.2 billion people around the world have visual impairments, so this could have a real global impact.
