Job Role: Business Development Executive

Tell us a little more about yourself

My name is Charlie, I’m from the South East of London. I am really keen on exploring the world so I have travelled throughout APAC and LATAM for the past 4 and half years. During this time I lived in Sydney 3 years whilst travelling and working in Business Development.

What’s your role at GPS?

I work in the Business Development team in London and my role is to identify, attract, and acquire new business opportunities for GPS. I am very target driven so there is nothing better than qualifying and then closing a lead with the hope of generating a certain amount of business for the organisation.

What does your average day look like?

My average day consists of taking lots of new business calls, doing research through a number of different channels, delivering presentations on our services to prospects and establishing commercial proposals. It’s pretty diverse day to day, but I like the structure.

What do you like most about your job?

We have a great team in Biz Development and Marketing which means that there’s always laughing and joking in the office, whilst also supporting each other.

What did you want to do growing up?

Like every young boy, I wanted to be a footballer. I have always watched a lot of football with friends and family and was desperate to become a football star when I was little.

What would be your advice to anyone wanting to start a career in the same job role and industry as you?

There is a lot to learn, take your time and network as much as possible. It won’t be something you are able to quickly understand, so don’t put pressure on yourself and listen to those who know best!

When you’re not at GPS what do you get up to in your free time?

I’m a massive Millwall supporter and I regularly travel across the country to watch them play. It takes up a lot of my time, but is so much fun to be involved in.

If you could be anyone who would it be and why?

I‘m not a fan of aspiring to be anybody but ourselves. We should always try to be our best possible version not compare ourselves to others! Especially in the workplace.
